I recently acquired a small 2-strap leaf seedling of rradii palm tagged Brahea ‘Tulum’ – told it was dwarf and blue tone. Inflorescences between the leaves interfoliarcm long, initially erect, then curved when in fruit, ramified with spaced primary ramifications and of decreasing length towards the apex, the lowest one cm long with 4, cm long rachillae.

Coccothrinax readii in its natural habitat
It grows under conditions of high humidity and on shallow soils with abundant humus not more than 10 to 15 cm deep where it reaches its best development. The scrubby plants forming an almost impenetrable thicket around the silver palms are mostly Poisonwood trees Metopium browneiBaybean vines Canavalia roseaand Seaside Oxeye shrubs Borrichia arborescens. Some hastulas were not at all bifid, and some were just slightly notched. In that picture the taller, darker palms in the background are the Foccothrinax Palms we profiled last week.
